A police force is training staff on the risks of choking after a coroner hit out at the “complete lack of knowledge” shown in an arrest in which a man died.

Drug dealer Karl Brunner, 48, swallowed heroin as he was being detained in Bedford in 2016, and died in hospital.

Liverpool bus driver saves baby from choking to death on a sweet

A Liverpool mum has told how an Arriva bus driver saved a baby’s life at Alder Hey Children’s hospital after the little girl began ‘choking’ while on his bus.

Stacia Joel said that the bus driver came running across East Prescot Road and into the hospital at around 5pm on 2nd March with a one-year-old girl in his arms, trying desperately to dislodge something that appeared to be stuck in her throat.

A businessman found dead on his boat at Conwy marina choked on a large piece of ham, an inquest heard.

The alarm was raised on  6th October 2018 when Sarah Barker became worried that she could not contact her husband David who had gone to the boat – named “My Sarah” – with his dog from their home in Dronfield, North Derbyshire.
